Programme

In 2015 to 2016, Temasek Cares works with Yellow Ribbon Fund and iC@RE HUB LTD to jointly developed the secular female shelter programme, a residential aftercare pilot project  to help newly released female ex-offenders and those recovering from addictions reintegrate into society.

INDIVIDUAL TRANSITIONAL ACCOMMODATION PROGRAMME (iTAP)

  • iTAP is dedicated to serving the IMMEDIATE accommodation needs of Women in Recovery for residency stability.
  • Research has affirmed the benefits of providing a safe home with supportive social services for recovering persons.
  • In western countries extensive research has been done on the correlation between homelessness of ex offenders and their recidivism rate.

OUR SUPPORTIVE SOCIAL SERVICES

BEFRIENDING SERVICES

The first contact point of iTAP is our friendly women staff and women volunteer who will welcome you to iC@RE. Each client will be assigned a befriender as iC@RE understands that women are relational in nature and needs attention on a one to one basis.

COUNSELLING & THERAPY

We offer individual counselling, couple therapy , family intervention works and group therapy. All clients are required to attend compulsory counselling sessions which are important to help them anchor their first step to recovery and to work out issues that hinders their progress in recovery. Specialised counselling offered include marriage counselling, addiction counselling and religious counselling(upon request). Counselling is also important in equipping them with the relevant coping skills in life and to rebuild their lives and familial ties and finally to successfully reintegrate to society.

ASSISTANCE IN JOB PLACMENT & PERMANENT HOUSING ARRANGEMENT

The priority after the client has settled in is to find sustainable employment. iC@RE will provide support for job placement and/or vocational upgrading.

CASE MANAGEMENT

The most immediate casework is help the client to identify her housing needs and provide support and advice in arrangement for permanent housing. This will be followed by support and encouragement given to the client to secure employment within the first month of her stay.

iC@RE will provide case management depending on their period of stay. This may also include working with their family members or significant others to support their recovery, helping them with budgeting and money management, psychoeducation on the harmful nature of addiction, identifying triggers and relapse prevention strategies.

THROUGHCARE AND AFTERCARE

iC@RE provides beforecare and aftercare, to follow up and follow through their recovery journey if the client is willing. Supportive social services are extended to non stay clients or women who do not qualify for accommodation under iTAP.

REFERRALS TO COMMUNITY PARTNERS

iC@RE provides referral service to relevant community partners who are able to meet the special needs of the clients including organization such as CDC, HDB, FSCs, Legal Aid Bureau and even religious organizations.
